Health products
Gosh ! What a shock I had this morning on reading the health alert issued by HSA on Australia's recall of Pan Pharmaceuticals line of health products. The long list of affected products include relatively well-known brands like 21st century and Kordel's. Fortunately, our family is not consuming any of these, except for Redoxon vitamin C by Roche, which was just given an "all clear" status. I think this may be a very bad news for some people, especially at this point of time where many people are starting to take vitamins because of SARS.

Until recently, I've been quite ignorant about health supplements. Never did I give much thoughts on taking vitamins or mineral supplements, because I had all along believed that a balance diet was sufficient to provide for our daily nutrient needs. It was just a month ago, after the SARS outbreak, that I suddenly realized that my diet might not provide me with the enough nutrients to prepare my immune system if I were to fall victim to SARS, and I became paranoid. I started browsing through the net and did my research for what is required, and what is the recommended nutrient intakes. After 2 visits to GNC (and $250 poorer), these are what I'm taking daily :
1) Vitamin C (2x) - for my immune system
2) Multi vit (2x) - for general health
2) Calcium (4x) - for my bones
3) Fish oil (1x) - ok, this is more for Jayden indirectly, for building his brain
4) Nettle (3x) - for general wellbeing, and also to improve my milk flow
That adds up to a good 12 tablets I'm taking per day !

For Jolyne, I've also started her on :
1) calcium
2) vit C
3) echinacea

Heehee, so you see, from a bo-chap person, I have now become quite a kiasu health freak !

Ok enough for now, am supposed to rest well, sleep early for health sake.
