Jolyne's fever
Last evening when we reached home, Jolyne was still having a high fever of 39 degrees. Without delay, KA brought her to Dr. Low, our pd, who happened to have night clinic on Mondays. While waiting, the nurses mentioned to KA that Jolyne might have to be hospitalised because of the high fever. Overhearing this, the poor little girl broke into tears. Luckily, after Dr. Low's examination, he didn't mentioned about it. Turned out that we could have under-dosed the fever medicines. We were supposed to give her both the fever medicines, instead of alternating it, as we did. There were also new ulcers in her mouth, but Dr. Low ruled out Hand Foot Mouth Disease as there wasn't any obvious blister on her palms, the usual tell-tale symptom. The ulcer outbreak was likely to be caused by bacteria infection. He prescribed a new type of antibiotic, since the first one didn't help after completing the course. But, if the fever didn't subside by the next morning, we were to bring her back for a blood test.
True enough, one hour after taking the antibiotic, her fever subsided (under 37 degrees). Throughout the night, her body did not feel hot like the past few nights. This morning, her temperature was at 37.1 degrees. Gosh, I'm so relieved! Nevertheless, we will continue to monitor her temperature and probably keep her from school till end of the week.
