A letter
KA wrote this letter to MCDS.
My daughter is with *deleted* childcare centre. One week ago, they had a concert on Friday evening in the school. A day later, my daughter was down with fever. Two days later, both my daughter and her 1.5 year old brother got high fever. Our family doctor said the virus is attacking the lung. We were also told that half of my daughter's class and many other children in other classes and their parents were down with type A Flu virus. Two of the children were warded in KK hospital.
I called up the Principal and ask why didn't the school take precautionary measure ? We were told that some (well, we know who but it is not the subject matter here so I am not naming names) children were sick before the concert yet returned to school specifically for the concert.
I am annoyed for the fact that the school failed to take temperature of the children and all visitors when there are children known to be sick before. By failing to do so, they are risking the health of the children and the visitors.
The Principal explained that she did not have the support of MCDS to do the temperature taking.
The purpose of this feedback to MCDS is therefore, to urge MCDS to give the green lights to school principals to put in place measures that they think appropriate to prevent virus from spreading.
We have learnt our lessons from SARS. This can be applied to many many other common situation.
When children are sick, their parents have to take leave to look after them. This is economic loss to Singapore.
Please forward this email to Minister Chan because he is the MP for Joo Chiat, where I lived. I would like him to take note of my feedback too.
Thanks !
Hope they do something about it.
Urgh, I'm sooo sleepy now. My eyelids feel heavy, my fingers are sluggish, and my brain stop working already. It's just 3pm. Darn. Better go and get myself some coffee now.
