Sick
Question : What is worse than 1 sick child? Answer : 2 sick children.
Last Saturday, Jolyne was down with fever, It subsided quickly and she had no other symptons, so we didn't give much thought about it. However, on Tuesday, her fever returned, shooting up to a high of 39.2 degrees celsius. The poor girl's body felt like a hot potato, She also complained of sore throat, which made her refuse to eat. We brought her to the doctor, who diagnosed it as lung infection. Her cousin Yixun, who is in the same class, was ill too. Turned out that half of her class was absent on Monday, so we thought it was highly possible that an ill child had brought with him/her the virus on the concert night last Friday, and infected the other kids. Although it was just our suspicion, the thought of it really made us fume. Such inconsideration! If true, it's unthinkable that there are such selfish and irresponsible parents who never learn their lesson even after the SARS episode ! Grrr!!!
KA had taken a day's leave on Wednesday to look after the sick girl, and it was my turn yesterday. Glad to say, Jolyne progressed well, and regained her appetite by dinner, though her temperature still hovered around 37.4. We were praying hard that the virus would contain itself within her,but to our dismay, Jayden started to get feverish yesterday. I immediately brought him to the clinic. It was no doubt the same virus, the doctor said, and he prescribed similar medicine. However, the antibiotics tasted so horrible that the little boy protested strongly with loud wails and eventually, vomitted all his food *sigh*. He was lethargic, irritable and clingy the whole day, and by night, the fever progressed to a high of 39.4 degrees. It didn't help when his nose started running, accompanied by a dry cough and a loss of appetite. How my heart broke into thousand pieces to see him in this state *sob*.
Both KA and myself have to work today, so we have to leave our 2 poor darlings at home with granny and our trusted helper Venus. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be well again the soonest, and I'll do anything to put their smiles back on their faces again.
