Story-telling
I've read about the weekly story-telling programme orgranised by the National Library for a long time. Remembering how much I've enjoyed it during my childhood days, on Friday, I brought Jolyne to the Marine Parade library for their weekly story-telling session. I was expecting a nothing-out-of-usual one given by the librarians, but, very much to my pleasant surprise, it was a fun-filled presentation by a group of young and enthusiastic English teachers. In line with the Asian Children Festival, the theme of the hour-long session is on Asian folklore, and it consisted of a short play, a few story-telling, poetry recitals, and a short presentation on the benefits of story-telling. The way they presented the tales was with so much passion and keenness, that they had captured the hearts of all the audience, old and young alike. We had a really enjoyable time. What a pity that the turnout wasn't so good, probably due to a lack of promotion. I think it's definitely much worthwhile way to spent a night, compare to sitting in front of the TV watching a meaningless soap opera, or wandering aimlessly at the crowded mall. Plus, it doesn't cost you a cent! For me, I've made a mental note to bring Jolyne to more of such activities whenever I can.
