Looking back
In 2003 ...

1) I continue to breastfeed Jayden. This, for me, is one of the biggest thing that I've done as a mother. Never would I imagine to do it for so long. Breastfeeding is something that occurs very naturally to me, something which I need not think about. Nevertheless, as a working mother, there were difficulties in carrying on - unfriendly office environment, long working hours, nosey colleagues, are just a few of the annoyances. I'm thus proud with myself to be able to express milk at work till Jayden turned one. The wonderous benefits of breastfeeding are so great and I need not repeat them here. One thing I didn't see coming is a special strong bond that has developed between me and my boy, something that makes me enjoy every moment of our private time together. I had set targets for myself - 6 months, then 1 year, then 1.5 year, but now it doesn't seem to matter anymore - I will just carry on as long as I can do it, as long as he needs it.

2) I see a great deal of changes in Jolyne. She's no longer a baby who needs mommy all the time, and starts to have a mind of her own. As much as I relish in seeing her growing-up, part of me feels an indescribable sense of loss. Sentiments aside, some milestones she reached this year: being able to read (well beyond her age), able to play the piano reasonably well, her writings are still ugly (something she can't help being left-handed) but she loves to write sweet little notes for me, lost her 2 milk teeth :) Oh yes! We enjoy shopping together now that she can give comments on the clothings I choose. Good thing about having a girl :)

3) I started this weblog, not that it matters to anyone (I wonder who reads it anyway). It has given me an avenue to record my life, my children's growth, my thoughts, joys, grouses, woes ... It also sparks my new interest in web designing, something I consider seriously to pick up next year.

4) We bought a new car :D
