Second weekend in England
Went sightseeing again last weekend. The weather was a typical British one – cold, gloomy, wet and foggy. I need to wear my coat all day when I was outdoor to keep away from the rain and wind. Notwithstanding, this being our last weekend here, we visited York on Saturday and Darlington on Sunday.
York is about 1 hour drive away from where we stay. It is a charming old place, with lots of old buildings and narrow walkways that remind you immediately of how people from the olden days lived. Right in the middle of the city where this picture was taken, it is even marked as a pedestrian-only zone as it is far too narrow and busy for cars to enter.

Picturesque view of River Ouse, that runs through the city of York.

Amidst trendy shops and restaurants like Gap, Next and Starbucks, York has many quaint little shops dotting the streets that sell traditional English stuff like tea leaves, fudge, handicrafts, hand-made teddy bears. This one, which sells cute garden decorations, had caught my eyes.

This is York Castle Museum, that showcases over 600 years of Britain’s history. Disappointingly, it doesn't talk much about the castle itself.

Clifford's Tower of York castle, another historical site.

This is me, eating my yummy ice-cream in front of the York Minster, which is the largest Medieval Gothic cathedral north of the Alps. If you think the architecture is awesome, wait till you see the interior! It is absolutely grand.

This is where I spent my Mother’s Day, at Darlington town. The streets in England are usually very quiet on Sundays, because most shops are only allowed to open for 6 hours. I had my most unexciting lunch at Pizza Hut. Craving for sizzling hot black pepper crab *drool*.

Four more days and I'll be outta here! Yay!
