Sad
I just learned during a dinner on Friday that my friend P's elder son was diagnosed with ADHD and her younger son, autism. I was shocked beyond words and didn't know what to say to console her. She had been staying at home to look after her younger son for about a year. I know it's really hard on her - the system in Singapore almost does not, if any at all, cater for special-need children and the medical personnels' and educators' attitude towards these children aren't exactly friendly nor compassionate. Hearing what she had gone through, it made me wonder whether I would do the same if I were her, but I think I would simply break down. I have to say that P is really one tough cookie. I sincerely hope that her application to migrate to Australia, which is a friendlier place for special-need children, will go through successfully.

During the dinner, another friend in the group told me that our friend M, who passed away in the SilkAir crash six year ago, was in the news. Apparently, her family won the lawsuit in US and was awarded a huge of money. I do not know if the news would create an impression that the families were after the money, but what I do know was that there finally was an explanation to the crash and more importantly, justice was done. Just can't help feeling sad to see her picture again.
